wirth-pollock breakfast suite
With the challenge and desire to create high function within a very small and otherwise minimally useful space of a 1930’s inner-Seattle home, this built-in breakfast suite eliminates the visual clutter and bulk of traditional built-ins, but extends the same wonderful invitation to this cozy, light-drenched spot. Each component is wall-mounted, simultaneously suggesting permanence and increasing ease of use. The benches decidedly remain away from the outside walls, seemingly defying gravity. The tabletop, in turn, deliberately matches the functioning dimension of its benches, elegantly floating on a steel platform — itself quiet but not ignored. The integrated planter pushes the entirety into symmetry, centering the table and its occupants under the existing window.
